Australian Ambassador honoured with VUFO's Insignia for Peace and Friendship

President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) presented the “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” insignia to Ambassador of Australia to Vietnam Robyn Mudie during a ceremony in Hanoi on June 7.

Attending the ceremony, on the Vietnamese side, there were President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam - Australia Friendship Association Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nhung. On behalf of Australian side, there were Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie and officials of the Australian Embassy Hanoi.

On behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations(VUFO), Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga presented the medal "For peace and friendship among nations", which is the most notable award of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) toAustralian Ambassador to Vietnam Ms. Robyn Mudie to honour the Australian Ambassador’s remarkable contributions towards promoting the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries’ people.

At the award ceremony,Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga said Ambassador Robyn Mudie were a close friend, veteran diplomat, one of the few foreign Ambassadors who has served 2 terms in Vietnam and speaks Vietnamese fluently. During the past 3 years, despite the pandemic, Ambassador Robyn Mudie has made significant contributions tostrengthening the cooperation between the two countries.

In particular, Ambassador Robyn Mudie played a vital role in promoting cooperation in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic between the two countries. As of December 2021, Australia has committed to provide a comprehensive support package worth 60 million AUD and more than 4.1 million doses of vaccine, becoming the second largest vaccine donor to Vietnam. In addition, it is worth emphasizing the important contribution of Ambassador Robyn Mudie to the effective cooperation between the two countries in enhancing Vietnam's participation in the United Nations peacekeeping force, gender equality and women's empowerment.

"We appreciate Ambassador Robyn Mudie's contributions to the development of Vietnam and the Vietnam-Australia relationship. We sincerely thank her for her affection towards Vietnam and the valuable cooperation that the Australian Embassy give to the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations", Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga emphasized and also expressed her belief that in any position, the ambassador will make further contributions to bilateral friendship and partnership.

For her part, Mrs. Robyn Mudie expressed her pleasure to receive the insignia and affirmed that VUFO plays an important role in strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and other countries.

Delighted to play a minor role in developing the deep friendship between the two countries Vietnam - Australia, Ambassador Robyn Mudie thanked her for the affection that the people and country of Vietnam have shown her throughout her tenure in Vietnam, she hopes that the relationship between Vietnam and Australia relations will continue to develop better in the future.

"I would like to say that Vietnam always holds a special place in my heart and although Australia is my homeland, Vietnam is my second home," said Ambassador Robyn Mudie.
