Awarding a Certificate of Merit to Tzu Chi for Humanitarian Contributions in Viet Nam

At the event, Vice President of VUFO Nguyen Ngoc Hung presented the Certificate of Merit to a representative of Tzu Chi. He expressed deep gratitude for the organization's support for the Vietnamese people in disaster relief, healthcare, and education. According to VUFO statistics, in 2024, Tzu Chi provided approximately USD 1.8 million to assist around 2,600 households in Yen Bai and Lao Cai in overcoming the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3). In addition, the organization has sponsored charitable healthcare programs, funded school construction, and provided educational equipment for underprivileged areas.

During the event, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung introduced Viet Nam’s nationwide initiative to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses, launched by the government to improve living conditions for the poor. VUFO proposed that Tzu Chi participate in this initiative by supporting the construction of homes in five provinces.

He also assured that VUFO would provide maximum support to help Tzu Chi navigate certain administrative procedures and challenges. He expressed hope that both sides would soon engage in further discussions to develop a concrete plan for future cooperation.
