Cooperation Strengthened between ALOV and the Taiwan-Vietnam Association

On February 8, the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese (ALOV) met with the Taiwan – Vietnam Association for Economic Development, Culture, and Education (Taiwan-Vietnamese Association) in Hanoi.

Collaboration to organize Vietnam Culture Week in Taiwan

According to Ngo Pham Tran, President of the Taiwan-Vi etnamAssociation, the Association was established in 2016 with a mission of promoting cooperation in the field of economy, culture, and education between Vietnam and Taiwan (China). Currently, the Association has more than 100 members which are large corporations in Taiwan that have invested in Vietnam.

ASEAN Talent Training Committee is working under the Taiwan-Vietnam Association, which is responsible for supporting and training high-quality labor resources for Taiwanese businesses in Vietnam. The committee provides a lot of support for Vietnamese students in Taiwan such as organizing many job fairs, providing experts to support businesses in consulting, registrations, and organizing direct interviews.

Up to now, it has supported many large corporations that have or are about to invest in Vietnam such as Foxlink, Juteng, and Shinkong. Their work has been recognized and praised by many businesses.

Ngo Pham Tran said that it is expected that by the end of February 2023, the Taiwan-Vietnam Association will accompany to establish the General Association of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in Taiwan. They are the second and third generations of Vietnamese, students, and intellectuals in Taiwan. The General Association also gathers many professors and teachers in the Vietnamese language, health care, technology, etc.

In addition, Taiwan - Vietnam Association plans to open an exhibition of Vietnamese goods in Taiwan in April 2023. The exhibition will be organized at major trade centers in three regions of Taiwan to display and introduce Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to local consumers.

According to Ngo Pham Tran, in the coming time, the Taiwan-Vietnam Association wishes to cooperate with ALOV to organize activities towards the homeland. Specifically, every year, both sides can coordinate to organize Vietnam Culture Week in Taiwan on the celebration of September 2.

At the meeting, Associate Professor Nguyen Lan Trung, Vice President and General Secretary of the ALOV said that in the coming time, it is necessary for the Taiwan-Vietnam Association and the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in Taiwan to establish a working group on Vietnamese language development in Taiwan. Some recommended activities include opening online Vietnamese language classes, organizing pedagogical training courses, applying technology in teaching Vietnamese, opening Vietnamese language teaching centers, etc.

In addition, the Association can support start-ups of the young generation in Vietnam to work in fields where Taiwan has strengths. Technology transfer can be a focus by organizing seminars and conferences on agriculture, health, and technology. Besides, the Association can also organize cultural and educational events in the hosting territory.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, ALOV works and cares for the Vietnamese community in Taiwan and supports the activities of the Taiwan-Vietnam Association in promoting the economy, culture, and education of the two sides, especially in community work.

He suggested that to carry out many practical activities to strengthen the cooperation between the two organizations and further connect the overseas Vietnamese with the spirit of national unity, in the coming time, both sides will organize the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement on February 21.

“The cooperation agreement between ALOV and the Taiwan-Vietnam Association will be the foundation for sustainable and long-term cooperation between the two organizations, in line with the development trend and meeting the connection needs between the community of Vietnamese people in Taiwan and compatriots in the country", said Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh.
