NA Vice Chairman receives Canadian Parliament and Business mission

(Vietpeace) Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly Uong Chu Luu received a delegation of Canadian parliamentarians and entrepreneurs, headed by Mr. Barry Devolin, Deputy Chair of Committees of the Whole for the 41st Parliament, on September 9th in Hanoi.


Present at the reception were Mr. Patrick Brown, Member of Parliament, Co-Chair of the Canada – Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group; Mr. Denzil Minnan Wong, Toronto City Councillor; Mr. Do Trac Bang, Chairman ofthe Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association; Mr. Ha Huy Thong, Deputy Head of the NA Committee for External Relations and Chairman of the Vietnam – Canada Parliamentary Friendship Group; Mr. Don Tuan Phong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; and representatives from NA departments.

NA Vice Chairman Luu highly appreciated the visit on the occasion of 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Canada. He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to promoting the friendship and cooperation with Canada in all fields as politics, economics, trade, investment, science - technology, education - training, culture…; and boosting cooperation in regional and international forums.

He expected both sides will spare no efforts to futher promote practical, effective cooperation on a par with the potentials of the two countries.

Mr Luu also wished the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups to make further contribution to increasing mutual understanding and cooperation between the two Parliaments, and promoting trade and investment between Vietnam and Canada.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Barry Devolin expressed his gratefulness for the NA Vice Chairman’s warm reception, and said he will continue to promote cooperation relation with Vietnam, especially in the areas that Canada has advantages such as high technology, oil and gas, agriculture, education and labour.
