Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha has been elected as Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association for the 2021-2025 tenure.
Speaking at a conference of the association in Hanoi on October 13, Ha vowed to do his best to uphold the tradition of the association, and serve as a bridge between the Vietnamese and Cuban people, thereby contributing to the Vietnam-Cuba special friendship.
Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, who was Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Organisation for the 2017-2020 period, expressed her belief that Ha will fulfill his assigned tasks to contribute to the growing bilateral ties.
Amid the complicated developments of the COVID1-9 pandemic in the past nine months, the association switched from offline to online and semi-online activities to popularise the information about Cuba and its people, as well as the traditional solidarity between the two nations, affirming the Vietnamese people's consistent support for the revolutionary cause for justice of the fraternal Cuban people./.
