New Plans to Strengthen Vietnam-Russia Bilateral Relationship

The online conference to celebrate the 73rd founding anniversary of Vietnam - Russia diplomatic relations (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2023) was held on Jan 30 to the mutual importance of strengthening the friendship, solidarity and understanding between people of the two countries.

The online conference was organized by the Foreign Affairs Committee of St. Petersburg (Russian Federation). The delegation in Hanoi included Vice President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Van Doanh, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Nguyen Thi Hoang Van and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko.

The delegation in Russia included Ambassador Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi; President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of St. Petersburg Grigoriev Evgeni Dmitrievich; Vice Chairman of the Legislative Council of St. Petersburg Nikolai Leonidovich Bondarenko.

Vice President of VUFO Nguyen Van Doanh stressed that, in the complicated global and regional context of the current, strengthening friendship, solidarity and mutual help among is even more meaningful and crucial than ever.

"We hope that the Foreign Affairs Committee of St. Petersburg, the Russian partners, organizations of both countries will continue to cooperate closely with VUFO and the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, a member organization of VUFO, in implementing people-to-people exchange activities," said Doanh.

He hopes that these activities will be practical, rich and they will be well-received by many groups like scientists, businesses and young generations, to create new vitality and new energy for the traditional friendship that has been cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

Also, people-people exchange activities contribute to the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, common interests of the people of Vietnam and the Russian Federation, for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and in the world strategiced people," Vice President of VUFO.

The Soviet Union was one of the first countries in the world to recognize and officially establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on January 30, 1950, laying the foundation for strong friendship and cooperation. good cooperative relations between the two countries.

According to the Vice President of VUFO, the past 73 years been bolstered by the friendship between the two nations. The people of the two countries have always accompanied and stood side by side, from the Moscow battle in the winter of 1941 to the struggle for national liberation and reunification of the Vietnamese people, and in protecting and developing the future of Vietnam.

History shows that the relationship between Vietnam and the Soviet Union and with the Russian Federation today has always been full of effect, reliable and has overcome all the tests of time. The close, loyal and profound brotherly friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and the former Soviet Union, Vietnam and the Russian Federation today started when leader Nguyen Ai Quoc chose Petrograd to be where the revolutionary activities began. The past 100 years, through the ups and downs of history, affirmed the strong vitality of Vietnam - Russia friendship.

The two countries have become each other's most important and reliable partners and have achieved great achievements in all fields of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

"In every development step of Vietnam and Russian Federation, there are always imprints of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation. This is an invaluable asset that the leaders and staff have.

The people of the two countries are determined to preserve and promote it, which is the premise for the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia to deepen and become more practical and effective," said Doanh.

The delegates also highlighted the discussion meaning and importance of the relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation over the past 7 decades in the relationship.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries' relations have comprehensively developed in the following fields: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.

The workshop is one of the activities within the framework of the "Celebrating the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's arrival in the Russian Federation - A solid foundation of friendship and cooperation" project. This is a meaningful event to review the past journey with important achievements and jointly propose new measures to further develop the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

At the conference, the parties announced that the inauguration of President Ho Chi Minh's monument in St. Petersburg will take place in June 2023, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Uncle Ho's arrival in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg).

On November 30, 2021, the Joint Statement on the Vision of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation to 2030 signed by the two countries once again confirmed that strengthening strategic trust is the foundation for the expansion and strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

The partnership demonstrates the determination of both countries in opening a new stage of cooperation development in all fields, including people-to-people exchanges, helping to elevate the relationship between the two countries. between the two countries in the new situation, and at the same time ensure that the relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation continues to develop well in the future.
