Patriotism spirit promoted among Vietnamese people in Switzerland

The celebration offered an occasion to honour generations who sacrificed for national independence and to highlight the responsibility of today's generation, Long said, expressing gratitude to Swiss friends for their support during Viet Nam's reunification and development.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland hosted a ceremony on May 18 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025) and President Ho Chi Minh's 135th birthday (May 19, 1890 - 2025).

In his speech, Ambassador Phung The Long emphasised the great historical significance of the April 30 Victory, which marked the beginning of a new era of peace, reunification, and development for Viet Nam.

The celebration offered an occasion to honour generations who sacrificed for national independence and to highlight the responsibility of today's generation, Long said, expressing gratitude to Swiss friends for their support during Viet Nam's reunification and development.

He voiced his belief that the Vietnamese community in the European nation will continue to make great contributions to their homeland, calling on them to join hands in building a peaceful, prosperous, and globally integrated Viet Nam with an increasingly prominent position in the international arena.

Addressing the event, Anjuska Weil, President of the Switzerland-Viet Nam Friendship Association (SVFA), expressed her joy and deep impression after attending the recent national ceremony and parade in Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, stressing that the event conveyed a powerful message of national pride, determination to safeguard independence, and deep respect for those who sacrificed for Viet Nam's freedom, and strong affirmation of the Vietnamese people's will for peace.

Representing the Vietnamese association in Switzerland, Ly Pham expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices and efforts of generations of Vietnamese people in the past to bring peace to Viet Nam.

Ly said she feels extremely fortunate to live in a peaceful country, stressing that peace is not merely the absence of gunfire, but a foundation for development, prosperity, and happiness of each people.

She underlined efforts made by the community to preserve and promote the cultural values and traditions of Viet Nam, adding that it serves as a bridge connecting Viet Nam and Switzerland, contributing to the cultural diversity of the host country./.
