The event was attended by Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations; Ho Quang Loi, President of the Viet Nam–Romania Friendship Association; and Cristina Romila, Ambassador of Romania to Viet Nam.
Speaking at the gathering, President of the Viet Nam–Romania Friendship Association Ho Quang Loi recalled the historical significance of Romania’s National Day (December 1, 1918), a milestone marking the victory of the struggle for national unity. He noted that Romania, now a member of the European Union, is achieving many positive socio-economic accomplishments.

Ho Quang Loi emphasized that Romania was among the first 10 countries to establish diplomatic relations with Viet Nam. Over the past 75 years, bilateral relations have witnessed many important milestones. Established in 1991, the Viet Nam–Romania Friendship Association currently has nearly 1,200 members across 14 chapters nationwide.
In recent years, the Association has actively served as a bridge promoting cooperation in economics, trade, education, culture, tourism, and labor exchange, thereby contributing to strengthening comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. It has also maintained close coordination with the Romanian Embassy in Viet Nam and Romanian partners, particularly the Lotus Romania– Viet Nam Friendship Association. In April 2025, the Association worked with relevant agencies to organize an information exchange event aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, and investment.
Regarding its upcoming tasks, Ho Quang Loi said that the Association is preparing for its 8th National Congress, scheduled to take place in 2026. He also expressed his gratitude for the attention and support of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, and highly appreciated the active cooperation of Ambassador Cristina Romila in advancing bilateral relations.

Ambassador of Romania to Viet Nam Cristina Romila highlighted the meaning of Romania’s National Day and reviewed the country’s socio-economic achievements and international standing. The Ambassador affirmed that Romania consistently strives to promote Viet Nam–EU cooperation and highly appreciated Viet Nam’s decision to grant visa exemption to Romanian citizens until 2028, describing it as a major opportunity to advance people-to-people exchanges and multifaceted cooperation.

Ambassador Cristina Romila stressed: Viet Nam remains one of Romania’s key partners in the Asia–Pacific region, a country with which we have long-standing bilateral ties built on the traditional friendship between our peoples, strengthened over time through mutual support and solidarity. Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Viet Nam–Romania Friendship Association continue to prove themselves as among the most active contributors to bilateral relations and people-to-people diplomacy.
According to Ambassador Cristina Romila, the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Viet Nam–Romania diplomatic relations marks an important milestone, helping to deepen friendship and enhance mutual trust between the peoples of the two countries.
The friendship gathering also provided an opportunity for those who have longstanding ties to Romania to meet, reconnect, and strengthen bonds.
