Co-organised by the Embassy of Vietnam in Ukraine, the Vietnam-Ukraine Friendship Parliamentarians Group and the Vietnam-Ukraine Friendship Association, the event is held on the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19th, 1890 – 2018), the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s call for patriotic work emulation (June 11th, 1948 – 2018) and 107 years since Uncle Ho left the country to find a way to save the nation (June 5th, 1911 – 2018).

The event is part of the Vietnamese Culture Year in the East European nation.

Addressing the opening ceremony in Kiev on June 5th, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Anh Tuan said the exhibition aims to introduce the achievements that Vietnam gained in the cause of national building and development and promote Vietnam as a dynamic country. In particular, there are photos on President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Ukraine on display at the exhibition.

It also highlights milestones in the friendship between Vietnam and Ukraine, he added.

President of the Ukraine-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Oksana Yurinets said through the more than 100 photos displayed at the exhibition, Ukrainian visitors have better understanding about Vietnamese land and people and the sound relations between the two countries.

She said the exhibition, along with the upcoming Vietnam Day event in Lvov on June 21st, will help promote bilateral rapport.

Vietnam and Ukraine established diplomatic ties in 1992. Trade is a top priority in the comprehensive partnership between the two nations. Last year, two-way trade was worth USD 355.5 million, a 34.5 per cent increase from 2016./.
