President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations hosts a delegation of the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council

On December 16 in Hanoi, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Phan Anh Son received a delegation of the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council (NPSC) led by Rabindra Adhikari, member of the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal Unified Marxist–Leninist (CPN-UML), Chairman of the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council.

Phan Anh Son said that NPSC and Vietnam shared common visions of development, ideology, communism, and socialism. With the belief that people-to-people diplomacy is an important foundation for bilateral relations, Phan Anh Son hopes to strengthen people-to-people exchange activities between Vietnam and Nepal. VUFO and the Vietnam - Nepal Friendship Association must promote connections with Nepali partners, especially NPSC, to achieve practical cooperation.

The two sides need to propose cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and its Nepali partner, through which more Vietnamese people choose Nepal as a tourist destination. The two sides need to propose opening diplomatic representative offices in the Vietnamese and Nepali territories.

Rabindra Adhikari said that Nepali people admire President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam's fight for independence and the process of national construction and development. The Chairman of the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council hopes to promote relations between the two countries by opening direct flights; promoting tourism cooperation, especially religious tourism; and strengthening investment and trade relations.

The two sides agreed to continue exchanging information and discuss specific cooperation options and activities to enhance people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Nepal.

On the same day, the delegation of the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council had a working session with Nguyen Trong Kien, Head of the Department of Southeast Asia - South Asia - South Pacific, Vietnam Communist Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations. The two sides discussed the two Parties' situation and the potential for cooperation to further strengthen Vietnam - Nepal relations in the coming time.

Nguyen Trong Kien said that the Communist Party of Vietnam values its relationship with the Communist Party of Nepal Unified Marxist–Leninist and its role and position in Nepali politics. He hopes to strengthen cooperation activities and exchange delegations, thereby improving mutual understanding and trust between the two Parties.

According to Rabindra Adhikari, despite their long geographical distance, Vietnam and Nepal are close in ideals and perspectives. He hopes to strengthen cooperation and exchange of information with the Communist Party of Vietnam, thereby stimulating tourism and trade investment; and encouraging the opening of direct flights and diplomatic representative offices in the territories of each country.
