Promoting people-to-people exchange activities in second half of 2023

At the meeting on June 30, Kate Bartlett, the Cultural Attaché of the US Embassy in Vietnam, and Dong Huy Cuong, Director of the Institute for International and Public Diplomacy Studies discussed many people-to-people exchange activities for celebrating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries (2013-2023).

According to Dong Huy Cuong, as part of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Institute for International and Public Diplomacy Studies emphasizes the role of people-to-people exchanges in enhancing mutual understanding and cultivating the friendship between the two peoples.

He reaffirmed that VUFO highly appreciated the invitation from the US Embassy in Vietnam to cooperate in organizing the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Vietnam - US comprehensive partnership (2013-2023).

At the meeting, the Cultural Attaché of the US Embassy in Vietnam Kate Bartlett informed the VUFO side about the stream of events in planning.

From now until the end of 2023, there will be a friendship concert, a Cultural Exchange day and a conference jointly organized by the two sides. Some of the cultural exchange activities will be invite-only. Others will be open to the public in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which aims to bring the local community and the expat community together through various activities, enhancing good friendship and partnership of the two countries.

Both sides agreed that among the people-to-people exchange activities, the seminar will be a good opportunity to reflect the meaningful achievements and historical milestones in Vietnam - US diplomacy relations, especially people-to-people diplomacy. At the same time, it will open the discussion on the potential and recommendations for cooperation in the future.

Bartlett highly reaffirmed the important role of VUFO in coordinating these events and looks forward to the active cooperation of VUFO and its member organizations.

In response, Dong Huy Cuong said that he strongly supports the plan to organize the above activities. VUFO in general and the Institute for International and Public Diplomacy Studies in particular will actively cooperate by frequently exchanging information and supporting the necessary resources as proposed by the US Embassy in Vietnam.
