Representative of German NGO Wants to Continue Friendship with Vietnam

"5 years in Vietnam left my family with good memories. When we return to Germany, we will contact the Vietnamese community to make friends," said Axel Blaschke, Resident Representative of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in a meeting with Phan Anh Son, Vice President, General Secretary of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in Hanoi on May 26.

Axel Blaschke said his children have learned Vietnamese and can sing some Vietnamese songs. His family has already reached out to Vietnamese in the neighborhood in Germany, hoping to continue the relationship with Vietnam after he finishes his term and returns to Germany.

He thanked VUFO and related agencies for facilitating and accompanying FES in implementing its programs and projects in Vietnam. He said that Vietnam and FES had great potential for further cooperation. FES hopes to continue to contribute to the development of Vietnam.

In response, Phan Anh Son said that the Committee for Foreign Non-governmental Organization Affairs (COMINGO), VUFO, and the People's Aid Coordination Committee (PACCOM, under VUFO) highly appreciated the contributions of FES and Axel Blaschke himself in enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people friendship between Vietnam and Germany.

During his tenure as Resident Representative of FES in Vietnam (2018-2023), Axel Blaschke connected Vietnamese agencies and organizations with German partners and implemented many activities and projects, seminars and trainings in the field of labor, energy transition, and sustainable development.
