Seminar: New Dynamics in International Coalition-Building - Implications for Vietnam’s Foreign Policy

On September 24, 2025, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Peace and Development Council held a roundtable discussion on “New Dynamics in International Coalition-Building through Recent Developments - Implications for Vietnam’s Foreign Policy.” The event was chaired by President of the Council Ha Hung Cuong.

The seminar brought together representatives and scholars from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute for Strategic Studies under the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, members of the Viet Nam Peace and Development Council, as well as leaders and staff from departments and units of the standing body of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations.

During the discussion, participants received two keynote presentations: the first on “New dynamics in international coalition-building: Characteristics, forms, and impacts - Implications for Viet Nam’s international integration” delivered by Le Dinh Tinh, Director General of the Department of Foreign Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the second on “Adjustments in US foreign policy and their impact on international coalition-building trends – Implications for people-to-people diplomacy in the new context” delivered by Nguyen Dang Quang, Standing Committee Member of the Viet Nam Peace and Development Council.

In his remarks, President of the Viet Nam Peace and Development Council Ha Hung Cuong highly appreciated the quality of the presentations and the valuable contributions from delegates. He noted that the comments offered were direct, candid, and thought-provoking.

Delegate Doan Xuan Hung from the Viet Nam Peace and Development Council, shared: “The world situation is witnessing many developments, which also pose numerous challenges to the direct interests of countries, including Viet Nam. In this context, we need to strengthen our autonomy in international coalition-building, thereby putting forward initiatives to uphold the orientation of people-to-people diplomacy and contribute to the country’s development.”
