Special Tet Program Celebrates Remote Border Communities

Border Guard forces in Dien Bien, Dak Lak, and Soc Trang jointly organized the 2025 “Spring at the Border, Warming Villagers’ Hearts” program on January 4.

This meaningful activity is part of celebrations for the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2025); the 66th anniversary of the Border Guard Force’s establishment (March 3, 1959 – March 3, 2025); and the 36th All People’s Border Day (March 3, 1989 – March 3, 2025).

It serves as a tribute to the contributions of ethnic minority communities in building, managing, and safeguarding the nation’s territorial sovereignty and border security, while also supporting policy families and disadvantaged households to enjoy a warm and festive Lunar New Year.

At the People’s Committee of Na Bung Commune in Nam Po District, Dien Bien Province, the Border Guard Command and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien Province collaborated with the Nam Po District People’s Committee to host the “All People’s Border Day” and “Spring at the Border, Warming Villagers’ Hearts” programs. The event featured various meaningful activities and saw a large turnout of residents early in the morning.

The organizers launched a Zero-Viet Nam-Dong market to distribute essential goods free of charge, along with free medical consultations, health check-ups, and medications for the people, with total funding exceeding VND 300 million.

The “Spring at the Border, Warming Villagers’ Hearts” program in Ia Lop Commune, Ea Sup District, Dak Lak Province, also included cultural performances, sports activities, a “Green Banh Chung Festival,” health consultations, medical check-ups, and free medication for 300 residents. Nearly 400 gift packages were presented to policy families and disadvantaged households and scholarships for underprivileged students who excel in school.

Additionally, five “Great Solidarity” and Comradeship Houses were donated. The total value of gifts and activities exceeded VND 800 million.

Colonel Do Quang Tham, Political Commissar of the Border Guard Command in Dak Lak Province, emphasized that this annual event, held during the Lunar New Year season, carries profound humanitarian significance. It creates an enthusiastic and joyous atmosphere for welcoming the new spring.

Colonel Tham expressed hope that the program would help ethnic minority communities in border areas feel the deep care and affection of border guard officers and soldiers. This would foster stronger bonds between the communities and the border guard forces, encouraging mutual support and timely provision of valuable information to ensure national border security.

In Soc Trang Province, the Provincial Border Guard Command organized the “Spring at the Border, Warming Villagers’ Hearts” program in cooperation with the local government of Vinh Chau Town. The program included meaningful activities such as free medical examinations and medication for residents and the donation of a 50-million-VND “Great Solidarity House” to a family in especially difficult circumstances. Additionally, 18 scholarships worth VND 23.4 million in total were awarded.

The program also provided 21 bicycles worth VND 42 million and 500 notebooks to students under the “Support Children to School” program and the “Soldiers Nurturing Students to School” project. 130 gift packages valued at VND 65 million were presented to policy families and poor and nearly poor households.

Cultural exchanges, artistic performances, and folk games were also held, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere for residents to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
