Uruguay's Capital to Build Vietnamese Culture Space on Jose Pedro Valera Avenue

The Viet Nam space includes a zone for commemorating President Ho Chi Minh who once arrived in ports in Uruguay and Argentina during his journey to seek ways to savage the nation 112 years ago.

The government of Uruguay's capital Montevideo has passed a resolution to name the space Viet Nam on Jose Pedro Valera Avenue, on the occasion of 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2024) and the 134th anniversary of the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

According to VNA, the newly passed resolution emphasizes the purpose of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Uruguay and Viet Nam after the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, the Montevideo has unanimously approved the plan to build a Vietnamese culture space on a 500 sq.m area near the international conventional centre.

The government of the capital Montevideo said that the space named Viet Nam also commemorates the great President Ho Chi Minh, leader of the Vietnamese people, on his journey to find a way to save the country and come to Uruguay in 1912. The Viet Nam Space is located near Antel Arena Convention Center, Uruguay's most modern convention center.

It is expected that the Montevideo and Ho Chi Minh City governments will coordinate to implement the construction of Viet Nam's space. The two localities signed a letter of intent on cooperation in April 2023, to promote tourism development and people-to-people exchanges.

The project is expected to become a symbol of solidarity and friendship between the governments and people of Uruguay and Viet Nam.

The capital of Montevideo is the largest and most important economic, technological, administrative and cultural hub of Uruguay and is considered the city with the best quality of life in Latin America.
