Earlier, on March 28, Chu Cong Phung sent a letter of condolences to U Thet Win, president of the Myanmar-Viet Nam Friendship Association, expressing his deep shock and sorrow over the devastating earthquake. He reaffirmed the Viet Nam-Myanmar Friendship Association’s unwavering support for its Myanmar counterpart and the people of Myanmar. He also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and expressed profound solidarity with the people of Myanmar during this difficult time.

On March 29, Chu Cong Phung sent a letter to Soe Ko Ko - Charge d'Affaires of Myanmar in Viet Nam, extending his condolences to the families of the victims (of the earthquake) and to the people of Myanmar. He affirmed that "We stand side by side with the Myanmar Embassy in Hanoi and the people of Myanmar, sharing your difficulties and emotions."

On the evening of March 31 (Viet Nam time), French news agency AFP, citing Myanmar’s military authorities, reported that the death toll from the March 28 earthquake had risen to 2,056, with over 3,900 injured and nearly 300 still missing. The casualty figures may continue to rise as many affected areas remain isolated. The international community and regional countries are making concerted efforts to assist Myanmar in rescue operations, and disaster recovery.
