Sharing and expanding cooperation
Speaking at the opening, Vice Chairperson of the CPPCC Xian Hui highlighted the long-standing neighborly friendship and geographical closeness between China and Viet Nam. Over 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the bond nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong, and other early leaders has become a cherished asset of both nations. The two countries have continuously supported each other in the struggles for independence and national development.

Under the strategic guidance of top leaders, bilateral relations have steadily advanced. In 2023, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping visited Viet Nam, where both sides agreed to build a shared future with strategic significance. In 2024, General Secretary and President To Lam visited China, further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership. Xi Jinping’s recent state visit to Vietnam also set the course for future ties.
Xian Hui affirmed that exchanges between the CPPCC and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front play a vital role in enhancing friendship among the people. Cooperation between the two organizations helps to deepen mutual understanding and solidarity.
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties (January 18, 1950 – January 18, 2025) and the China–Viet Nam People-to-People Exchange Year, the two sides co-hosted this third exchange in Guangxi. Xian Hui hoped the program would create opportunities to share experiences and promote cooperation across various sectors, enriching the Viet Nam–China relationship.

Building connections for the future
Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, vice president and secretary general of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, emphasized the significance of this third Friendship Exchange, held in Guangxi—an area that shares both geographical and historical connections with Viet Nam and features prominently in the revolutionary legacy of President Ho Chi Minh.
She noted that the forum is a valuable opportunity to review the achievements of bilateral cooperation, exchange experiences in uniting social forces for national development, and further connect the two countries through friendship and collaboration. The exchange also strengthened ties between seven Vietnamese border provinces (Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, and Lai Chau) and the Chinese provinces and regions of Guangxi and Yunnan. The outcomes of this event lay an important foundation for further exchanges in the future.
She expressed hope that the relationship between the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and the CPPCC would continue to expand in scope and effectiveness, contributing to broader cooperation and friendship between the two nations.
Carrying forward the legacy of friendship
Sun Dawei, chair of the CPPCC of Guangxi, noted the growing vibrancy in exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi and Viet Nam’s border provinces. Initiatives such as spring festivals, sister city partnerships, cross-border tourism, and cultural and sports exchanges have helped deepen people-to-people ties.
He stressed that these grassroots exchanges have fostered mutual learning and understanding between the two neighboring peoples. To mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025, Guangxi has planned a wide range of people-to-people exchange activities aimed at preserving and promoting the longstanding friendship between the two countries. At the same time, Guangxi is taking the opportunity to develop cooperative innovation centers, AI industries, and integrated supply chains.

Reflecting the theme “Joining hands to promote friendship,” Sun Dawei affirmed that the Guangxi CPPCC will actively implement the shared understanding and outcomes of the program in partnership with the Fatherland Fronts of Viet Nam’s border provinces. All sides will work together to contribute their strengths and insights to enhancing cooperation and delivering on the high-level consensus reached by the two Parties and countries.
As part of the program, delegates from both countries exchanged experiences and participated in a tree-planting activity at Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area in Nanning, Guangxi, symbolizing enduring friendship and sustainable cooperation.
