Responding to reporters’ questions on December 8 regarding Viet Nam’s reaction to the rising tensions between Cambodia and Thailand in the border area, Hang stressed that as a neighbouring country and a fellow ASEAN member, Viet Nam calls on both sides to exercise the utmost restraint, refrain from the use of force, fully implement the ceasefire agreement, continue dialogue, and resolve their disagreements in a peaceful and satisfactory manner.

These efforts should be based on the fundamental principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), and in the spirit of ASEAN friendship and solidarity, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, she stated.

"Viet Nam will continue to actively contribute to promoting dialogue and the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries to soon restore peace and cooperation along the border in the spirit of ASEAN friendship and solidarity, for the long-term interests of both sides as well as of the region," she added./.
