On August 29, in Hanoi, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) received Samina Naz, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga said that during Ambassador Samina Naz's tenure, VUFO received the Bangladesh Embassy's strong engagement and support. The two sides coordinated in many activities, even during the difficult Covid-19 time.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Bangladesh is an example of poverty reduction and development. Many businesses and NGOs in Vietnam want to learn from Bangladesh's experience in microcredit, rural housing, and education programs.

Given that the two countries have many similarities, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga believes that Vietnam - Bangladesh and ASEAN - Bangladesh will continue to cooperate closely towards sustainable development.

For her part, Ambassador Samina Naz talked about the Bangladesh Embassy's activities in recent years. Accordingly, the Embassy not only focuses on political and diplomatic activities but also tries to integrate and get to know the local community.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Embassy has participated in many humanitarian programs such as voluntary blood donation, and food support for disadvantaged people in Vietnam. In 2021, officials and employees of the Bangladesh Embassy participated in three blood donations to save lives. Through those blood donation events, the Ambassador feels closer and more connected to the country and the people of Vietnam.

Bangladesh is also working to become a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN and participating in Mekong cooperation mechanisms. These are forums to promote stronger Vietnam-Bangladesh relations.
