The friendship exchange to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia (September 21, 1991-September 21, 2023) and 78 years of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023) took place on September 9 in Hanoi.

At the exchange, Nguyen Van Thuan, chairman of the Vietnam-Armenia Friendship Association said that over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, the two countries Vietnam and Armenia gained great achievements in country building, socio-economic development and deep integration with the world.

Relations between Vietnam and Armenia are constantly developing on both bilateral and multilateral levels.

The Vietnamese people always remember the gratitude and valuable help the Armenian Government and people gave to Vietnam during the years of resistance and struggle for national independence. They helped train thousands of scientific and technical staff for Vietnam, creating important resources for Vietnam in the work of building and developing the country.

Nguyen Van Thuan emphasized that in the coming time, the Association will organize activities to connect Vietnamese and Armenian businesses in fields suitable to the potential and needs of both sides, such as agriculture, high technology, digital transformation.

In addition, cooperation in cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges is also important for the development and deepening of relations between the two countries.

The Association is working with partners to promote the establishment of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Association, contributing to promoting traditional friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries.

At the exchange, the Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Vahram Kazhoyan recalled some important milestones in the history of developing bilateral relations between Vietnam and Armenia. He said that nearly 2,000 Vietnamese students studied in Armenia from 1950 to 1990. Many of them are members of the Vietnam-Armenia Friendship Association, and they contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

Ambassador Vahram Kazhoyan also said that in order to promote tourism cooperation between the two countries, the Government of Armenia simplified the process of applying for entry visas to the Republic of Armenia for Vietnamese citizens.

Accordingly, in 2022, Vietnamese citizens can apply for an entry visa to Armenia directly from the Armenian Embassy in Hanoi or apply for an electronic visa from the Republic of Armenia without an invitation. The Armenian government also proposed signing an agreement on visa exemption for citizens of the two countries.

The Armenian Embassy also sent to the competent authorities a draft Memorandum of Understanding between Gyumri-Ho Chi Minh City and Vanadzor-Da Nang.
