Ongoing collaboration between Viet Nam and the US in addressing the consequences of war is fundamental for bilateral relations, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated during a regular press briefing on March 20.

Responding to a question about the US's continued implementation of war aftermath projects in Viet Nam, Hang emphasised that this partnership has significantly contributed to reconciliation and trust building, opening up new cooperation opportunities in other key areas.

The spokesperson informed that several joint projects between Viet Nam and the US in this field either continue to be implemented or are resumed. These include the clearance of unexploded ordnance and the decontamination of Bien Hoa Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai. "The continued practical and effective implementation of these projects will make a meaningful contribution to strengthening bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development," she stressed.

At the briefing, in response to a question regarding US tariff policies, Hang reiterated Viet Nam’s position on the new trade measures introduced by the administration of US President Donald Trump, which had been clarified on February 13.

She affirmed that under the comprehensive strategic partnership framework, Viet Nam has been working closely with the US to maintain the positive momentum of bilateral trade agreements.

Moving forward, Viet Nam is ready to engage in constructive discussions with the US and promote cooperation and information sharing to enhance mutual understanding, remove obstacles, and ensure stable and sustainable economic relations that benefit both sides, the spokesperson added./.
