Enhancing Competence and Operation Efficiency of VUFO’s Local Member Organizations

(Vietpeace) The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organnizations (VUFO) and the People’s Committee of Da Nang City jointly held “Workshop and Training Course on enhancing competence and operation efficiency in people-to-people diplomacy of the local Unions of Frienship Organizations in the Central and Central Highlands Region” in Da Nang City on June 30th, with delegates from 11 local Unions taking part.


Chairing the Workshop and Training Course was Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, VUFO’s President. Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, VUFO’s Executive Vice President; Mr. Pham Van Chuong, VUFO’s Vice President, President of the Vietnam Committee for Asian-African-Latin American Solidarity and Cooperation; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, VUFO’s Secretary General; Mr. Phung Tan Viet, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee; and representatives from the City Departments and VUFO’s Departments were present.

At the Workshop, presentations of the Unions of Da Nang City, Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam province… mainly focused on the achievements in people-to-people diplomacy in recent years, advantages and difficulties in operation, and proposed feasible solutions to improve the local Unions’ operation efficiency in the coming time...

The delegates also made discussions on the measures to improve the local Unions’ operation efficiency in people-to-people diplomacy, and contributed ideas and suggestions to the draft documents of VUFO’s Fifth National Congress.

On behalf of VUFO’s leaders, President Vu Xuan Hong praised the significant contributions of the local Unions’ leaders and staffs to the development of VUFO’s system over time; highly appreciated the delegates’ presentations, particularly the proposed solutions to improve the operations efficiency of the local Unions and the contributions to the draft documents of VUFO’s Fifth National Congress.

President Vu Xuan Hong also requested the local Unions to effectively implement Directive No 28-CT/TW, Directive No 04-CT/TW of the CPV Central Committee’s  Secretariat; innovate and enhance the efficiency of people-to-people diplomacy under the motto proactive, flexible, creative and effective”; expand multilateral and bilateral partnerships; enhance dissemination of external information to gain the world people’s understandings, sympathies and supports; focus on strengthening the organizational structure, bulding force, innovating and enhancing the efficiency of people-to-people diplomacy pursuant to the Directive No 28-CT/TW of the CPV Central Committee's Secretariat…

In the afternoon, Mr. Pham Van Chuong and Mr. Nguyen Van Kien made presentations on  “People-to-People Diplomacy in International Integration” and “Skills in Foreign Non-Governmental Aid Mobilization” respectively.

The delegates highly appreciated the outcomes of the Workshop and Training Course for the local Unions.

Also at the Workshop and Training Course, representatives from 11 local Unions in the Central and Central Highlands Region signed “ Collaboration Plan on Implementation of People-to-People Diplomacy Operation for 2013-2014 Period” in the witness of VUFO’s leaders.

In September 2013, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will continue to organize two Workshops and Training Courses for the local Unions in the North and the South regions./.
