On January 05 in Hanoi, former Vietnamese Ambassador to the USA Nguyen Tam Chien, President of VUS received a delegation from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO).

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tam Chien welcomed the MTSO delegation led by Dr. Joon Sik Park to visit and learn about Vietnam.

In 2018, Vietnam - US relations witnessed an exciting year with many commemorative activities, which are 5 years of "Vietnam - US Comprehensive Partnership" relationship and also 45 years of signing "Paris Peace Accords "to end the war, restore peace to Vietnam.

2019 will be the 25th anniversary of the US abolishing embargo on Vietnam, normalizing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The VUS President hopes that the actual visit to Vietnam will help the MTSO delegation better understand the Vietnamese country, people and culture, including freedom of religion, beliefs and cultural festivals.

The former Ambassador also suggested that the MTSO delegation besides the visit to Vietnam should have humanitarian projects, send delegations to exchange cultural, artistic and friendly exchanges towards the 25th anniversary of Vietnam – US relations in 2020; coordinate and support projects such as writing books, picture galleries, performing arts, making Vietnamese - American films about Vietnamese cuisine and culture.

MTSO delegation will visit Vietnam from January 04-09. They will have some presentations about Vietnam: the history and today, challenges and opportunities, and make a visit to the Friendship Village to learn about the consequences in Vietnam and meet with war veterans and children as victim of Agent Orange/dioxin there.
