World Wide Fund For Nature Supports Gas Emission Reduction in Quang Tri

On November 25, Quang Tri People's Committee issued Decision No. 2860/QD-UBND approving the project "Workshop on Promoting the Energy Transition Towards the Goal of Achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050 in Quang Tri Province". The sponsor, World Wide Fund For Nature Viet Nam (WWF-Viet Nam), will provide a total non-refundable aid capital of 25,455 USD, equivalent to more than 615 million VND for the project.

The project's goal is to support raising awareness and capacity building to promote the achievement of the goal of reducing gas emissions greenhouse gas and net-zero emissions. The implementation time is in December 2024.

This goal will be delivered through a workshop, with contents such as sharing the energy transition roadmap and solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project also supports raising awareness and capacity building on promoting the achievement of greenhouse gas emissions reduction and net-zero emissions in Quang Tri province.

As the world's largest conservation organization with more than 5 million supporters globally, WWF operates in more than 100 countries and territories, supporting approximately 1,300 conservation and environmental protection projects. The organization's mission is to prevent the degradation of the Earth's natural environment and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.

Since the 1980s, WWF has been present in Viet Nam, together with national and international scientists to identify national biodiversity values and major conflicts and threats to Viet Nam's environment. This is one of the valuable sources of information contributing to the development of Viet Nam's first National Conservation Strategy.

WWF-Viet Nam has implemented many livelihood improvement programs for local people. Successful models can be mentioned as community-based ecotourism models, cocoa and cashew cultivation models - combined agriculture and forestry, and technically intensive shrimp farming models.

One of WWF-Viet Nam's other achievements is to deal with the impacts of climate change (climate change). WWF-Viet Nam has introduced many programs to influence public awareness and policy influence at the central and local levels. Earth Hour can be considered a typical success.
