Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc on November 23 signed a decision approving an emergency aid allocation of 1.1 trillion VND (41.74 million USD) from the central budget’s 2025 contingency fund to four provinces – Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Gia Lai and Dak Lak – to address severe damage caused by recent floods. Under the decision, Khanh Hoa will receive 150 billion VND, Lam Dong 300 billion VND, Gia Lai 150 billion VND, and Dak Lak 500 billion VND, in line with the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Finance.
The Central Relief Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee decided to allocate 80 billion VND (3.03 million USD) to assist four central provinces severely affected by recent flooding - Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Gia Lai - with each receiving 20 billion VND.
The Presidium of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee launched a fundraising campaign to support people affected by recent storms and floods in central and south central provinces and cities, collecting more than 112.6 billion VND (4.27 million USD) right at the launching ceremony.
The Ministry of Finance has assigned the Department of State Reserves to allocate 4,000 tonnes of rice to support residents in Gia Lai and Khanh Hoa provinces affected by recent floods.
The People’s Committees of the four provinces are responsible for managing and utilising the aid in a transparent and accountable manner, ensuring it is used for the correct purposes and delivered to the right beneficiaries, in full compliance with regulations on the State budget and all relevant legal provisions, while preventing any loss, waste or wrongdoings.
According to authorities, floods sweeping across central and south-central localities have left 102 people dead or missing, with thousands of homes inundated or destroyed. A report from the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention, updated by 7:00 on November 23, showed 90 confirmed fatalities and 12 people still unaccounted for, a significant increase compared to 24 hours before.
Dak Lak has been the hardest-hit, with 63 deaths and eight missing. Khanh Hoa has reported 14 deaths and two missing, while Lam Dong has recorded five fatalities. Other provinces and cities reporting casualties include Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang and Gia Lai.
