Enhancing competence and operation efficiency in people-to-people diplomacy of VUFO’s local member organizations in the South

(Vietpeace) The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) held a “Workshop and Training Course on Enhancing competence and operation efficiency in people-to-people diplomacy of VUFO’s local member organizations in the South” in Can Tho on September 27th.


Chairing the Workshop and Training Course was Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, VUFO’s Secretary General. About 60 delegates from VUFO’s local members and some provincial Department of Foreign Affairs were taking part.

At the workshop, delegates of the Unions of Can Tho City, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap province, Vinh Long province, Ba Ria- Vung Tau province engaged in discussion on the implementing of Directive No 28-CT/TW of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat, innovating operation and enhancing efficiency of people-to-people diplomacy; on NGOs mobilization, external information dissemination, organization building and development; operation orientations of the local Unions in the coming time…

The discussion lively took place with many practical suggestions, focusing on measures to promote the people-to- people diplomacy of VUFO in general and the local Unions in particular, on the draft of the Summary Report of the 2008-2013 tenure and the orientation for the 2013-2018 tenure of VUFO. The delegates were also interested in the implementation of Decision No. 41/2013/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister on a number of regulations and policies for VUFO at local level.

On behalf of VUFO leaders, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van informed the delegates of the implementation of Decision No. 41/2013/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on a number of regulations and policies for VUFO. She emphasized the measures to enhance the efficiency of people-to-people diplomacy, non-governmental aid mobilization; external information dissemination; organization building and development of the local Unions.

In the afternoon, the delegates were delivered two topics: External information service in people-to-people diplomacy, Non-governmental service in 2013 and non-governmental aid mobilization.
