(Vietpeace) The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), member of the Vietnamese National Coordinating Committee for ASEAN People’s Forum (APF) on 4 April, 2016, organised a meeting in response to the Drought and Saltwater intrusion in Vietnam.

Present at the meeting were 200 representatives from foreign non-governmental organizations (FNGOs), foreign enterprises and representatives of the provinces in the Central, Central Highland and Mekong Delta regions of Vietnam which have been severely affected by drought and saltwater intrusion.

The meeting provided participants with assessment reports on 13 affected provinces and recommendations for FNGOs and foreign enterprises to consider support for these provinces.

For further information, VUFO will send detailed assessment reports in 13 provinces of the Central Highlands and the Mekong River Delta to FNGOs, foreign diplomatic missions, and foreign enterprises in the hope of receiving timely support from them.

At the meeting, six FNGOs and foreign enterprises committed to providing those localities with clean water and food totaling 1, 1 million USD.
21 FNGOs approved the framework agreements signed with VUFO, which committed to implementing 30 programs and projects from 2016 to 2019 in 13 affected provinces with a total budget of 12, 3 million USD.
