At the reception, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong made an introduction to Mr. Ng Teck Hean of VUFO’s organization structure, statutes, main tasks and member organizations, the network of non - governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Vietnam and the fields they are interested in, and the results in promotion of aids from NGOs.
Ambassador Mr. Ng Teck Hean showed his interest in the VUFO's promotion and coordination of foreign NGO aid, especially in the activities of American NGOs in Vietnam. Mr. Ng Teck Hean also informed Mr. Vu Xuan Hong results of the Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to Singapore in September 2012.
Mr. Ng Teck Hean also proposed to have activities as culture exchange, exhibitions, workshops to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries(1 August 1973 – 1 August 2013). Mr. Ng Teck Hean hoped that VUFO would set up the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association to enhance further solidarity and friendship between the two countries’ peoples.
President Mr. Vu Xuan Hong welcomed Mr. Ng Teck Hean’s proposals and said that VUFO and the Vietnam – ASEAN Friendship and Cooperation Association will collaborate with the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in organizing activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries./.
