Vietnam – United Kingdom Cultural Festival in Ho Chi Minh City

(Vietpeace) The Vietnam-UK Cultural Festival, one of the activities commemorating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK, was co-organised by the HCM City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), the HCM City Vietnam-UK Friendship Association (HVUFA) and the British Consulate General in HCM City at Hong Bang International University on June 8th.


Attending the Festival were Mr.Nguyen Van Manh, HUFO's General Secretary; Mr. Huynh Ngoc An, HVUFA's Chairman, former Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Rector of Hong Bang International University; Mr. Stephen Agnew, UK Vice Consul General in HCM City; Mr.Nick Holder, Chairman of the British Business Group Vietnam; Ms. Phan Thi Bao Phi, Education Project Manager of the British Council; Mr. Tim Clements, HR and People Development of Atlas Industries Vietnam; Mr. Kristof Van Houdt, EA  Product Development Manager of ILA Vietnam; and many other guests.

The Vietnam-UK Cultural Festival has introduced special cultural features of  Vietnam and the UK through perfomances of  the Chầu drum, modern music and impressing sandpainting show with the topic “I love Viet Nam”; as well as information about education and study opportunities in the UK. The exhibition pavilions of the British Council, ILA Vietnam and  Hong Bang University International also enriched the Festival program.

Through this event, HUFO and HVUFA have brought the Vietnamese youth chances to learn more about the culture, arts and  education of the  two countries in general and the UK in particular.
